The Illinois Nurses Foundation is seeking nurses interested in serving on the INF Grant Committee and helping guide the next chapter of the License Plate Grant Program.

Over the past year, the Grant Process Review Taskforce completed an extensive review of the program. From August 2025 through March 2026, taskforce members examined and strengthened the grant policies, application process, review structure, and online portal.

Their work created a stronger foundation for a grant program focused on advancing professional nursing practice, education, leadership, research, and patient care across Illinois.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the members of the Grant Process Review Taskforce:

Karen Kelly, PhD, RN
Deborah Adelman, PhD, RN, NE-BC

Join the INF Grant Committee

We are looking for nurses who value innovation, thoughtful review, fairness, and the opportunity to support projects with the potential to strengthen nursing and patient care in Illinois.

Grant Committee members will help:

  • Review grant applications and evaluate proposals using established criteria.
  • Recommend grant recipients and funding amounts to the INF Board of Directors.
  • Review grant priorities, policies, procedures, application materials, and timelines each year.
  • Support a fair and impartial grant review process.
  • Help ensure License Plate Grant funds support meaningful nursing projects throughout Illinois.

Who We Are Seeking

Grant Committee members must have either doctoral preparation or experience reviewing grants for nursing projects.

The committee consists of seven members appointed by the INF Board of Directors. Meeting dates and times are established by the committee at the beginning of each fiscal year.

To establish staggered terms, four individuals will be appointed to initial two-year terms and three individuals will be appointed to initial four-year terms. Following completion of these initial terms, all subsequent appointments shall be for three-year terms. Committee members may be reappointed for one additional term.

Your expertise matters.

Serving on the INF Grant Committee gives you an opportunity to support nurses, nursing students, researchers, educators, and project leaders who are working to improve nursing and healthcare throughout Illinois.

If you have experience in research, education, nursing practice, leadership, grant review, program development, or project evaluation, we encourage you to express your interest.

Help us invest in ideas that move nursing forward.
