INF 40 Under 40 Awardee: Jennifer Bosworth

With 17 years of nursing experience, Jennifer Bosworth has built a career that seamlessly blends clinical expertise, research, and education. Her work spans caring for children with food allergies at Lurie Children’s Hospital to teaching and mentoring the next generation of nurses as an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Lewis University. Jennifer earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master of Science in Nursing Education, and Family Nurse Practitioner degrees all from Lewis University. She has spent over a decade at Lurie Children’s, including eight years leading allergy research and the past four years specializing as a nurse practitioner in pediatric allergy care.

Advancing Allergy Care and Research

In her clinical role, Jennifer manages children with food allergies, eczema, allergic rhinitis, and asthma, providing comprehensive care that includes oral food challenges and oral immunotherapy treatments. She finds her work deeply rewarding, supporting families as they navigate complex and sometimes daunting health journeys. Beyond the bedside, Jennifer is committed to advancing allergy research that will improve outcomes and quality of life for children and families affected by allergic conditions.

Mentoring and Building Healthier Communities

At Lewis University, Jennifer teaches research and health promotion courses and is passionate about community engagement. She collaborates with nonprofit organizations to organize health fairs and screenings for underserved populations, ensuring access to care and hands-on learning opportunities for her students. In 2024, Jennifer was honored with the IBHE Illinois Faculty Educator Grant, which has further supported student involvement in community health initiatives.

A Commitment to Leadership and Impact

Receiving the 40 Under 40 Emerging Nurse Leaders Award is a meaningful milestone for Jennifer. “This recognition reaffirms my commitment to advancing pediatric care, mentoring future nurses, and building partnerships that make healthcare more accessible,” she shares.
