Seventeen years of experience in critical care nursing have shaped Dr. Brenna Kouzoukas into a respected leader, clinician, and mentor in pediatric healthcare. A dual board-certified nurse practitioner with a Doctorate in Nursing Practice, Brenna has built her career around clinical excellence and team development in some of the highest stake’s environments in healthcare.

From PICU Expert to System Leader

Brenna’s clinical foundation lies in pediatric intensive care, where she continues to practice in the PICU at Advocate Children’s Hospital. Alongside her bedside care, she has led a diverse team of Advanced Practice Providers across multiple pediatric inpatient units, fostering professional growth, cohesion, and leadership development. Recently, Brenna accepted a new position as Director of Advanced Practice Nursing at Children’s Wisconsin, where she will continue to advance APP leadership, mentorship, and innovation in pediatric care.

Championing Mentorship and Professional Growth

Beyond her clinical and administrative roles, Brenna has made mentorship and professional development central to her career. She has served as both a mentor and preceptor to numerous new Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) and is deeply committed to equipping the next generation of pediatric healthcare leaders with the skills and confidence to thrive. Her impact extends nationally as well; Brenna currently serves as treasurer on the board of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP).
